2021 Coach in Training (CIT) Program – AU Park
We have re imagined our CIT program and are ready to accept applicants ages 13-15. Program is 8:00am to Noon weekdays.
We are only taking a small group each week. This is a coed program and any level of baseball experience is acceptable- inclduding none. However, all CITs will be expected to give 100% effort in every aspect of the daily routine (Unless their is a specific health issue). A willingness to grow is paramount.
They will have a dedicated coach who will be one of our current college ballplayers or veteran coaches. CITs will be given full sets of HRBC gear and will be expected to arrive on time with their shoes shined daily.
Here’s the daily format:
•Arrive daily with our Six S’s: Show up on time, Shine your shoes, Say hello, Stay Optimistic, Start listening more, Stay Focused on the good in people.
•Work dustpan and broom to clean around the park. Turtle Park and surrounding sidewalks will be the cleanest park within 250 miles.
•Welcome our families and young ballplayers. MTFI ‘em! (Make Them Feel Important).
•CITs take their own live batting practice with quality balls in the cages.
•CITs take their own round of ground balls and work on their own pitching and catching if they like.
•Every Wednesday they will bring a copy of the Wall Street Journal and read it as a group for an hour or so to improve our understanding of finances and the world around us. (Coach Mac has coaches a number of young ballplayers who went on to success in business including former President of the New York Stock Exchange Thomas Farley (Gonzaga and Georgetown University).
•Do a round of core power yoga and sprints.
•Meet our retired veteran DC Police officer who is on site every day overseeing safety for a brief talk on the importance of making positive choices as they ascend Mount Success and track down their goals.
•Program is 8:00am to Noon weekly from June 14 to July 30. You may enroll for any amount of week(s).
•CITs will need to buy their own black or royal blue baseball turf shoes. Everything else will be provided.
•Program is $200 per week and 100% will be directed to our Breuer Family Scholarship program enabling youngsters to attend our camp who otherwise may not be able to.
